27th of April 2009

Hello everyone!

This week was pretty good.

the biggest thing is that this tuesday we are going to get a baptisimal date with Alexander!! I'm VERY excited and kinda nervous. it will be really good and hope everything goes thrugh.

I had sushi for the first time a few hours ago. it was kinda good, pretty weird but good. and chop sticks are weird. Missionaries in Asia must be pros with those stupid sticks.

Right now I'm in Helsingborg with workoevers with the zone leaders there. They are about 1½ train ride away so we went to visit them for p-day! I can ALMOST see denmark from where I'm sitting. There is a big boat in the way.

My mom and Nati are in Guatumala right now helping out furture missionaries with their dental work! It sounds like they are having a really good time serving them and getting them ready. I'm sure proud of them for doing that! they are pretty awesome!!!

In a few days is Valborg, its a big holiday here, welcoming summer, so everyone burns all their garbage and stuff and the city has a huge fire and stuff. And everyone is drunk and out of control.... so we have been advised to avoid the main places. Might be a really boring few days, locked in our appartment because Babylon really goes crazy. Every weekend is a mess of drunk people and crazys.

Erica does not want to meet anymore. Maybe in 2 months she said, after she is done with this govermental course on how to feel better about yourselves. we'll see.

I went on splits to Karlskrona this week! It was so awesome! I went with Elder Dixon, he is one of my best friends out on the mission. he is a really great guy. We've been in the same district for 7 MONTHS! long time. Well we talked all about technology and plans for when we get back home, he goes to BYU also, and is going to major in film making. he is really good at all that stuff. So maybe we will team up for some things. He is awesome. Missionaries know splits is kinda a time to vent and talk to someone else, then the normal person you are glued to. It was pretty awesome. I feel like I learned alot from him, and we understand eachother pretty well.

We taught a less active guy from from Zimbabue, that was pretty cool. He was so cool! I love africans and all immigrants. I feel like i could be their best friend after 5 minutes of talking. they are pretty cool.

We also visited a castle this week, it was cool. And now we are in Helsingborg so we will probably walk around and see some more stuff. We sure take alot of this european stuff for granted. Not every day you stroll down cobblestone roads with yellow old buildings all around speaking some crazy language.

Tack för allt ni gör!

April 20th 2009

Ok this week, maybe i'll just take snips from my emails to people.

to my Grandma,
"Gma you sure are a good example of service. That is really cool we are getting alot of Swahili people in SLC. Sweden has LOTS of immigrants. yesterday we went tracting and about half of them couldnt speak swedish. We were in a "bad" neighborhood, but we were looking for this swedish girl the missionaries taught about a year ago. I've gained some serious appreciation and love for the people of Iraq. Honestly. A family let us in yesterday from there, the mom could BARELY speak swedish, but the kids could. They had a girl who looked JUST like melissa! I showed her pictures and she thought it was pretty cool. Even though they are going to stick to Islam for ever I would be their best friend any day over most christians. We (colectivly as christians) do not live even close to what we preach. Sweden is the best example of that. But Muslims live what they teach, even if it isnt 100% right, they follow god, the best they know. I really love immigrants haha."

to President Anderson:
"The best thing that happened this week was on Saturday when we went to lunch with Alexander Appelqvist. he said that on next tuesday he will know WHEN he will get baptized. He said that he wants it to be a private baptism. I thought that was interesting, and really shows that he is doing it for the right reasons. he had some basic questions that we answered. Basically it came down to tithing and preparing to pay it. He was wondering if he still should pay the swedish church 1% and our church so he gets the funeral stuff they offer. So that was easy to answer, we actually called our mission leader here and asked him.
The mission leader here in Kristianstad is awesome. he is really good. Other things are coming, just slowly.
Our less active guy we are working with, Daniel Pedersen is almost completely back. He was sick this week, and that is why he didnt come to church, but we are going to do something fun with him, like go bowling and eat pizza. Usually when we visit him we just read a chapter from the book of mormon and discuss it. He wants to get married in the church, but we explained that that will never happen unless he is active. That got him thinking. He is a great guy.
Things are almost the same with Erica. She is coming, just slowly.
Same with Jerry Appelqvist. They will come around soon."

Live is good!!!

April 13th 2009

Hello Everyone!

Time goes by so fast!!!

it is pretty crazy!

This week was pretty good. Some really good stuff and some really bad stuff. We had Zones conference!! that is always fun! I love President and Sister Anderson. I would trust them with anything. They are so awesome. I don't know if I've told you guys much about President Anderson. He is awesome.

Well that was in Lund. The elders in Karlskrona slept over at our apartment to cut up the trip, but Elder Dixon left his backpack at our apartment so me and him drove back to kristianstad and then back to lund, and then me and my companion took a train back home. It was alot of travel. Elder Dixon is an awesome guy. we had a good conversation. Me, Him and Elder Balhorn have been in the same district for 7 months! that is a LONG time. it has been awesome though.

Then another cool thing, is this guy, who is the head of some pro-jewish organization, who is a member, came to Malmö on sunday and gave a talk/presentation. It was SO cool. I love learning about other religions. He explained to us why the Jewish community loves mormons and why we love them, and why we are so similar and we take care of eachother. he said something that was really interesting he said that people who believe in the old and new testament can still hate the Jews-- just look at European history. But those that also believe in the bible AND the book of Mormon cannot. It was very cool. He is a very important guy appparently. He can speak 7 languages, and has done alot of political stuff to do good things. I wish i had his name so you could look into him. Anyway it was really cool to learn about, and gain a bigger appreciation for our brothers.

Because we were in Malmö we slept over there and now we are still there having p-day with them! Nothing too exciting but it has been good! Malmö is a cool city. I'd like to serve here.

Ok for some of the bad news...

Erica was sick with the flu this week, and we went by and gave her a blessing, and haven't talked to her sense. we plan on calling her today. But it is going pretty long and slow.

Alex-- we are not sure what his deal is. he is just wishywashy. He wont make up his mind. I've been in this city for 6 months and he is exactly in the same place. It is hard.

David Gustavsson-- got baptized last transfer, hasn't been to church sense. His dad wont fix their car and is just making up excuses and it is just really sad. they are making their own choices now. It's just hard to see. Our elders quorum president said to just do your job and leave agency up to them. It's been hard.

me and my companion are still working along. It is hard but not too bad. We get by I guess you can say. It is just frustrating and effects our effectiveness haha. But it will be fine. I kinda expected have hard companions and maybe this is just one of them! I'm a pretty strong willed person, and 2 strong willed persons don't get along so great USUALLY. But my last companion was the strongest willed person I've ever meet, and we got along really good. Life is just interesting!! I told my mom i was sure glad we get to pick our eternal companions haha.

Unless you've been on a mission i don't think you understand what a mission does to you. It is like a 2 year time to just think, and do missionary stuff-- which is the weirdest profession you can imagine. Who gives 2 years and 10,000 dollars to go around and be the most awkward person ever, and ask people to believe in God and pray and read for 2 years? we have got to be the craziest group of people in the world. I bet of all the 53,000 missionaries, we have the highest person to Rubik's cube ratio, and scriptures, and say more prayers and all sorts of weird stuff. We are one heck-of-a picular people.

I taught a class in Sunday school! Just me and like a couple 12-13 year old Swedish kids. They needed me to because a few members were sick. So i taught them about why we need Jesus Christ and how he helps us overcome the Physical and Spiritual deaths. It was cool! I hope they got it!

Call me a huge nerd, but i love the Rubik's cube. Elder Dixon is super good at it, is teaching me a new way to do it. it will be my 3-4th way of knowing how to do it. My fastest time is 47.8 seconds!!! It was pretty intense!!! My goal is to break the first official world record, at 44 seconds-- made in 1984 or something like that. haha.
alright i have a crazy thing for you guys to try.

check out this. I know I'm a huge nerd and all but these are pretty intense. I don't expect many of you to understand the power of these things, but they are pretty sweet. They have programs that you can put onto your cellphones that can basically do this same thing. they are pretty intense.

this will tell you more about them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code

so i send my sister sand from all the places i visit. Last P-day we went to Simrisham-- the most southern city in or area, WAY far down. almost by poland and germany. the very end of sweden. Well i got some sand from this beach. Nati I'll send it to you soon!!! which by the way I'm going to send a package home with alot of stuff i've collected in Kristianstad over the past 7 months.

I also got my package from my family!! It had my new shoes in it-- the old ones cracked but they had a 2 year gaurentee so that was good. And some CDs with music! So i've been enjoying all of that this week. My mom also sent me some eyedrops that i need and it says that they expired 2 years ago, but I called up President Anderson, he used to be a world renouned chemist and stuff like that, so i told him what was in the ingredients, and he said it might not be very effective anymore but it wont hurt. So i'll try it and maybe have to go by a swedish doctor. The swedish medical stuff is very messed up. it is all free-- kinda-- but you have to wait like 6 hours and stuff like that. It is really stupid.

This is a cool picture i took thrugh a window into some house haha-- in simrishamn. Allison thats for you.

Anyway love you all!!!

MY COUSIN GOT HIS MISSION CALL!!

I couldn't sleep wednesday night, cause we were going to go check email the next morning and see where he got called, but he got it on thrusday so I didnt know until today!  He is going to Porto Alegre South Brazil Mission speaking portuguese.  I'm very excited for him.  He sent me some very interesting stats.  in his area there is: Literacy - 94.3%  and White - 79.6%.  Sounds more white then sweden!  seriously!!!  there are thousands and thousands of immigrants here.  I'm not sure what it is exactly but yeah!

Wow time goes fast!

Confrence was great huh!  we got to see all of the sessions except sunday afternoon.  It was super good.  I liked Äldste Christoffersons talk and President Uchtdorfs talk, sunday morning, and Äldste Holland was super good too.  I dont have my notes with me and so thats all i can really talk about that now.
other important things this week.  We caught a pet toad.  it was pretty cool!!  Being the artist that i am i took a ton of pictures of him.  I was trying to get some really artistic pictures.  My camera is a pretty awesome camera for being a pretty basic one.  THANKS MOM AND DAD FOR IT!  i got it for christmas a few years ago.  It has really been awesome.

We are going to meet Erica tonight.... we'll see how that goes.  She has had alot of contravercial stuff from her friends and hopefully we can clerify it.  I think the most important scripture for her is actually in the introduction to the Book of Mormon, in the last 3-4 paragraphs.  Basically if the BoM is true then this is Gods only true church on earth, and it is right for EVERYONE-- but then after you get a testimony of it, the question is are you willing to follow it?  so we'll see.  We were weekly planning and that was about the same lesson for almost all of our investigators.  kinda crazy...

we are getting some new investigators.  We taught 2 black guys from africa who are super awesome.  hopefully it continues with them.  They came to confrence and it was really dumb actually because they usually get it in english and swedish, in diffrent rooms, and english wasnt working, so my companion had to translate from Swedish back to english.... pretty stupid.  We should have just prayed and asked the tech dude to try again.  I'm sure it would have been way easier.

We have lots to do here in Kristianstad!  It is great!  Keep us busy!

It is warming up here!  which is a double edged swoard if you know what i mean.  I cannot wait to get some mesh on and some short sleve shirts.  I have some pants i found in the appartment that i'm going to wear every day all day and just destroy them instead of my suits.  and they are pretty good.

Miss ya'll lots!

Follow the prophets and DO what they told us to in confrence!  they really are chosen from God!

Mr. Toads Photoshoot

We caught a frog, and this was the frog we caught! he liked to just chill under the water in the sink. it was pretty cool. he was sheding off his weird skin from the winter or something. His eyes were super cool looking-- brilliant orange.

My camera has pretty impressive high speed capabilities.
